MILTON, Mass. (AP) – One student at Milton Academy has been expelled and three others suspended in the wake of a cheating scandal at the prestigious private school.
Interim Head of School Rick Hardy wrote in a letter sent to parents that a male student hacked into the academy’s computer system in recent weeks and managed to change his attendance record, several of his own grades, and the grades of some classmates.
The boy is accused of sharing network passwords with three other students, one of whom accessed a test before it was given by a teacher.
The Boston Globe reports the student who originally hacked into the system was expelled, while the others received suspensions. They were not identified in the letter.
As a result of the breach, Milton Academy is now reviewing the midterm grades of all students in grades 9-12.
