PARIS – A Lovell man received a deferred disposition for drug charges on Thursday, but will serve half of it behind bars.

Patrick M. Stevens, 20, of Debbie Lane, pleaded guilty to Class B trafficking of heroin and an information of Class D unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

A count of Class B trafficking in cocaine was dismissed.

Justice Carl O. Bradford gave Stevens a one-year deferred disposition for the trafficking charge.

During this time, he must be enrolled in a full-time job or educational institution, not use or possess alcohol or illegal drugs, undergo substance abuse counseling, and perform 100 hours of community service.

Stevens was sentenced to six months in jail and a $400 fine for the unlawful possession charge. He will begin the sentence on Dec. 11.

According to court documents, an undercover agent and an individual cooperating with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency purchased drugs from Stevens in March and April.

Defense attorney Edward Dilworth said Stevens has no prior adult record.
