OXFORD – A man was arrested last week and charged with a burglary at the Oxford Plains Speedway.
John Paul Roaix, 22, of King Street, was arrested Thursday. He has since been released from the Oxford County Jail.
“The reason he was arrested right now was that I had information that he was going to leave the state,” police Sgt. Rickie Jack said.
Jack said he has been collecting evidence in multiple speedway burglaries over the past two years.
He said Roaix is accused of breaking into the Speedway’s beer garden, candy shack, concession stands and tech shack, and taking tools, candy, beer and money.
“Right now we’re in the high, high thousands,” Jack said of the value of the stolen property.
Under the conditions established by Judge Paul A. Cote, Roaix is not to return to the speedway or leave the state.
Bill Ryan, the speedway’s owner, had no comment.
