MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – A Manchester man was killed early Tuesday after he rushed back into his burning home to try to put out the fire.
John Giovagnoli, 84, got out of the sprawling farmhouse, but he went back in to the basement, officials said. Firefighters tried to go in to find Giovagnoli, but were turned back by flames.
His body was found late Tuesday morning, after heavy equipment was brought in to help clear the debris,
Police say two tenants who lived on the second floor got out safely.
There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
