WATERFORD – State Republican Committee Chairman Mark Ellis will be the speaker at the Tuesday, Dec. 11, meeting of the Oxford County Republican Committee at the North Waterford Congregational Church.

The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served by the church at 6:30 p.m. followed by the speaker and a brief business meeting.

Ellis will make a presentation on how to hold and report a town caucus in February in preparation for the state convention in Augusta in May. All area Republicans are invited.

At the Nov. 13 meeting at the Oxford Adventist Church, Republican activist Trevor Bragdon of Augusta spoke on gathering signatures on petitions to be considered by the voters in 2008.

Bragdon, who is a native of Bangor and a graduate of the University of Maine, is circulating petitions addressing such issues as reducing the excise tax, providing affordable health insurance and mandating tax relief.

He explained the petition process and the desired effects each petition would address if successfully presented to Maine voters next year. Those wishing to assist should contact Bragdon at [email protected] or by calling 504-0020

The next meeting of the committee will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, and the Lincoln Day dinner is scheduled for March 1 in Bethel.
