The tension was on, last game, if they could pull this off Tripp girls field hockey would become the Sandy Andy League champions. “Ladies, work hard, play hard…” Coach began to say. The team finished it for her with roaring “HAVE FUN.” We put our sticks in and began the chant getting louder and louder and becoming even more pumped. The ref blew the whistle and we ran out on the field, hoping for the best, and fully prepared to do exactly what our coach wanted. Work our hardest, play our hardest, and have fun.

The time flew by as the scored stayed 0-0. The ball was in the circle, then Adrie Newton came through a hard drive and slammed it in. This score pumped us up and we knew we could do this. It was Lewiston’s ball, but we immediately stole it back because of the adrenaline rush. Morgan Erskin dribbled through the defenders and passed to an open team mate, Casey Fichter. She drove the ball in with a miraculous save by the goalie, who stepped on the ball. Because of this step we got a penalty shot.

The teams stepped to the side as Amanda Jordan stepped up to the line. The ref told her the directions and blew the whistle. Suddenly, the crowd went silent and all eyes were focused on Amanda and the goalie. They stood there starring each other down. Would the ball go in or would the goalie block it? The suspense was on. Even if you didn’t see what happened you could tell that the ball made it in with power, and there was no stopping it. Perfect form and a perfect push pass for an absolutely perfect goal. There were cries of victory and screaming fans dressed in green bouncing all around Amanda Jordan as her team ran up to her and gave her high fives and hugs all around.

This amazing shot lead us to a 5-0 victory with following goals by, Casey Fichter,Morgan Erskin, and Morgan Shaw. It was official, the Tripp Tigers were the Sandy Andy champions of 2007, thanks to coach Sue Parlin and Darcy Shaw. This season was unforgettable.
