AUBURN – William O. Dennis, 97, formerly of Dana Avenue, Auburn, died Monday, Dec. 3, at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Auburn on Dec. 1, 1910, a son of Joseph and Josephine (Moore) Dennis. He was a lifelong resident of Auburn and was educated in Auburn schools. Will was a veteran of World War II serving as a member of the Coast Artillery.

In 1943, he married Gilda Michaud in Lewiston at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Golden Age Club of the parish. He was also a member of the United Commercial Travelers and the First Auburn Senior Citizens. He was affiliated with the family business, Dennis Brick and Oil Co., most of his lifetime, serving as vice president until his retirement in 1975.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gilda of Auburn; a daughter, Constance and her husband, Dr. Jack Bevivino, of East Greenwich, R.I.; two sons, Ronald J. Dennis of Plymouth Mass., and Donald and his wife, Sherri Coleman Dennis, of Massachusetts; six grandchildren, Caren Marie Bevivino, Jessica Lee and Katelyn Rose Dennis, and Cameron William, Jenna Rose and Halle Rae Dennis, all of Massachusetts.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Laurent, Laurea and Rosaire; five sisters, Adrienne, Lea, Marie, Florence and Alice; and a half sister, Alma Small. He was the last survivor of his family.
