JAY – The timeline for the 2008 annual town meeting has been set.

The date for absentee ballot availability is up in the air because of the state’s required timeline for a school budget vote under the new reorganization law.

Both the school budget validation vote and municipal vote on warrant articles are scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, 2008.

Town Manager Ruth Marden told selectmen she believed the state would be waiving the time frame for absentee ballots due to the required statewide school vote schedule.

Selectmen approved the timeline Tuesday night for the municipal government side of the operation.

Budgets are due to Marden by Friday, Feb. 29. She plans to meet with department heads on March 3 through March 6.

Budgets will be given to selectmen on March 10 with a joint review with the Budget Committee scheduled for March 17 and March 18.

Nomination papers will be available for open selectmen’s terms and school board seats on March 17, and are due back April 25.

Warrant articles are due to Town Clerk Ronda Palmer on April 1.

An informational meeting for public comment on the proposed budget is set for April 7, with a public hearing on all warrant articles scheduled for April 29.
