SABATTUS – A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Robert “Moe” Cyr Sr. was held Thursday at Our Lady of the Rosary Church after prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home, Lewiston. The Rev. Robert Parent celebrated the Mass and recited committal prayers at the interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sabattus. During Mass readers were Kathy Blais, Moe’s goddaughter, neices, Ruby Duguay and Jennie Cyr read the prayer of the faithful, the offertory gifts were brought to the altar by goddaughters, Roxanne Blais, Becky Papsis, Angie Lebel, and Jessica Provencher. Words of remembrance were shared by Moe’s, nephew, Rene Cyr. The funeral procession included in Moe’s honor Sabattus volunteer fire department truck and Glenn Dube Excavation dump trucks led by the dump truck Moe was so proud to drive as a loyal employee. Delegations in attendence were Sabattus Volunteer Fire Department, Wales Volunteer Fire Department, Lewiston Fire Department, and a delegation of fellow members from Kora Karts, where Moe had also served as an esteemed member. After committal prayers, the U.S. Army honor detail played “Taps” and presented our country’s flag to Moe’s wife, Judy, in recognition of her husband’s service to his country. Pallbearers were Al “Joseph,” Aurele, Rene, Jude, and Jean Cyr as well as Leo Begin. At the conclusion of services all were invited to a reception of fellowship at the American Legion Hall in Sabattus.
