Jesus was born and Christmas is his birthday. That is the reason I say “Merry Christmas.” Why are businesses changing that greeting? Are the store officials afraid of upsetting some customers?
I agree with Jeanne Langelier (letter, Dec. 11). This country was founded in God’s name, and Jesus came to save us all. Those who do not care about my way of celebrating the Lord’s birthday should not try and change my beliefs and the way I say my greetings. When people visit other countries, they have to abide by that country’s ways. People should do the same here.
I get very upset when people in stores greet me with “Happy holidays.” Please do not take Christmas away from me. If Jesus had not been born, there would be nothing to celebrate; it would be just another working day.
To all, I say, “Merry Christmas.”
