ORONO (AP) – Police say the weekend death of a 51-year-old Orono woman who was run over in her driveway by a heavy-duty pickup truck driven by her husband was accidental.

Mary Simpson and her husband, 61-year-old Kenneth Simpson, were preparing to do some plowing Sunday afternoon when the woman got out of the vehicle to get something from the house.

Kenneth Simpson apparently didn’t see that his wife was behind the truck and backed over her. He and paramedics used CPR to try to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Capt. Josh Ewing says investigators are confident that the death was an accident.
