MARYSVILLE, Ohio – Onile J. Panzino (Bob), 69, formerly of Lewiston, died Dec. 14, at his home in Ohio, after a long illness, with his family at his side.
Bob was born in Lewiston on Aug. 20, 1938, the son of the late Salvatore and Albienne Panzino. He spent most of his boyhood traveling between Cambridge, Mass., and Lewiston.
Being an independent free spirit defined him throughout his life. He spent most of his adulthood living and working in Maine. Initially, he was a machinist and worked long hours to support his family of six.
Later he and his ex-wife, Shirley Horton, became the founders and owners of Dry Dock Marine, a boat business, in Auburn in the 1980s.
An avid fisherman, he was one of the founders of the Riverbend Bass Masters. He spent his last years battling a long illness, and maintained a fighting spirit right until the end. All who knew him described him as a likable and social guy. He was a member of several local social clubs.
He is survived by his five children, Sandy Griffin of Florida, William James Panzino and his wife, Denise, of Auburn, Laura Panzino of Phoenix, Ariz., Darlene Panzino of South Portland and Robert Panzino and his wife, Kristen, of Marysville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
