AUBURN – The Auburn/Lewiston YMCA 5th and 6th-grade travel team mustered a furious rally but dropped its first contest of the season, falling to Messalonskee, 48-41.

The ‘Y’ came back from a 26-8 deficit at half time to outscore Messalonskee 33-22 in the second half. Cameron Cormier led the effort with 13 points, followed by Nate Alexander with 10. Corey Henderson added six, while Llewellyn Jensen and Andrew Gosselin scored four each. Ian Mileikis and Steve Ouellette both chipped in two points apiece.

Y’s next game is Saturday against Skowhegan.
