WINTHROP – A rematch of last year’s Class C Western Maine final lived up to its billing as Mt. Abram pulled out a 66-63 overtime win over Winthrop in a girls’ basketball game Friday night.
Kenni Norton erupted for a career-high 43 points, including 10 from the foul line, as the junior guard accounted for 65 percent of the Roadrunners’ (3-2) offensive output.
Mikayla Burbank made the difference in the extra frame, scoring five of her 12 points while Janessa Thomas tallied eight.
Lindsey Gordon paced the Ramblers (1-4) with 25 points, including a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer, and nine rebounds.
Justine Woodman contributed 13 points and Brianna Tupper added nine.
Telstar 58, Hall-Dale 36
BETHEL – Senior guard Bailey Davis notched a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds to pilot Telstar to a 58-36 victory over Hall-Dale in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Rebels (2-2) applied steady pressure, taking a 27-18 lead at the half. Senior guard Josie Reiss contributed three field goals, including a 3-pointer, for seven points.
Erika Brann paced the Bulldogs (3-2) with 13 points.
Livermore Falls 33, Wiscasset 26
LIVERMORE FALLS – Kathryn Lake scored nine points and hauled down eight rebounds to lead Livermore Falls to a 33-26 triumph over Wiscasset.
The undermanned Redskins (0-5), which changed coaches one week before the season started, stayed in contention, trailing 7-5, 15-10 and 23-14 at the quarter breaks.
Kendra Wyman added six points and seven rebounds for the Andies (2-3), while Hannah Therrien also had six points.
Sarah Pierce scored a game-high 13 points, including eight from the foul line for Wiscasset.
Bangor 66, Lewiston 17
LEWISTON – Amy Hackett led a balanced attack with 12 points as Bangor rolled to a 66-17 win over Lewiston in a girls’ KVAC basketball game Friday.
The Rams (5-0) led 19-2 after one quarter and 35-4 at the half. Hilary Sivik hit three 3-pointers in the final quarter and finished with 11 points.
Ashlee Labonte led Lewiston (0-5) with eight points.
Skowhegan 61, Leavitt 46
TURNER – Kaley Brown pumped in 22 points as Skowhegan downed Leavitt 61-46 in a KVAC girls’ basketball game Friday.
The Indians (4-1) broke open a one-point game late in the first half with their outside game, compiling seven three pointers. Ashley Matchett had four treys to account for all 12 of her points.
Leavitt (0-5) was led by Courtney Anderson’s 22 points and five assists.
Oak Hill 38, Maranacook 35
READFIELD – Freshman guard Maggie Sabine recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds as Oak Hill held on for a 38-35 victory over Maranacook in KVAC girls’ basketball matchup Friday.
The Raiders (1-3) were up by 11 in the fourth quarter when the Black Bears (0-5) made a serious push down the stretch.
Senior guard Kaylee Ball posted seven of her team-high 15 points in the final frame, while Brittany Myles notched a 3-pointer. But Maranacook simply ran out of time.
Junior center Carrie Hayden contributed nine points and nine rebounds for Oak Hill.
Oxford Hills 75, Mt. Blue 52
SOUTH PARIS – Kari Pelletier nailed four 3-pointers and turned in a game-high 28 points as Oxford Hills sped past Mt. Blue 75-52 in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
Melanie Cloutier and Megan Joyce each chipped in with 11 for the Vikings.
Meaghan Robinson scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half to lead the Cougars.
