LEWISTON – A 25-year-old Lewiston man escaped from his vehicle without injury after hitting a snowbank and rolling his SUV on its side Sunday afternoon.
Justin Sirois was driving east down Sabattus Street a few blocks from his home on Buckley Street when his 2001 Ford Explorer left the road and collided with the snowbank, according to Officer Jeff Parshall.
The snowbank pulled the vehicle in, causing the rollover, Parshall said.
Sirois climbed out the passenger-side door and was not hurt, according to the officer.
The accident occurred at 3:38 p.m. on the corner of Sabattus and Hartley streets in front of the Lewiston Fire Department.
The fire department and Officer Robert Pearce responded to the accident.
The fire department temporarily closed Sabattus and Hartley streets to keep traffic away from the scene.
It took two of Anytime Towing’s wreckers to get the vehicle off the road, Parshall said. One flipped the vehicle upright, and the other towed it away.
It took about an hour for the vehicle to be removed and the flow of traffic to return to normal.
Sirois did not complain of any injuries and refused treatment, according to Parshall.
