NORWAY – The Norway Recreation Department will sponsor another after-school bowling program from 3 to 4:30 p.m. starting Thursday, Jan. 10, for eight weeks. The registration fee is $10, which must be paid at the time of registration.

There will be a weekly fee of $5 to be paid at Hobbs Lucky Lanes each week a child participates. The $5 fee is a discount for shoe rental and two strings of bowling.

Children can bring a snack or make purchases at the vending machines or snack bar. A SAD 17 bus will pick the students up at the Guy E. Rowe Elementary School and transport them to the lanes. Parents are to pick their children up at the bowling center by 4:30 p.m.

Registration forms are at the Guy E Rowe Elementary School and the Norway Town Office. For more information, call Norway Recreation Director Deb Partridge at 743-6651 or e-mail [email protected].

The Norway Recreation Department will also sponsor a six-week after-school karate program for grades three through six on Fridays starting Feb. 1. The classes will be held at the Guy E. Rowe School gym from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Instructors Sempai Liesha Petrovich and Shihan Martin Petrovich, Maine Kyokushin Karate, will use fun and innovative skill building drills during each class. The Samurai Program is a good introductory program for anyone with interests in the martial arts.

The program will increase student’s ability to concentrate, focus on the positive and say no to unhealthy peer pressure at school. Karate helps children to develop key areas such as listening skills, goal setting, leadership and confidence. Every class provides a high-energy workout that motivates children to reach new levels of mental and physical performance.

Registration forms are at the school and the Norway Town Office. Registration fee is $69. For more information, contact Norway Recreation Director Deb Partridge at 743-6651 or Maine Kyokushin Karate 743-8801.
