FARMINGTON – The start of spring semester for college courses will be here shortly. Central Maine Community College invites people interested in taking a spring course to attend a Franklin County registration session from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Foster Technology Center at Mt. Blue High School.
People who are thinking about community college courses and want more information are also welcome, said Roger Philippon, dean of planning and public affairs at CMCC on Thursday.
“There may be more opportunity closer to home than they think,” he said. “If they check it out a little more, they may be pleasantly surprised.”
Several courses required for different majors are offered at five sites in Franklin County, he said.
There are a couple related to early childhood education, he said, but most can be applied to general education requirements.
CMCC staff from student services, financial aid, admissions and the registrar’s offices will be available to answer questions during the session. Students may also register for classes that night, he said.
The spring semester begins the week of Jan. 14. While many students attended fall classes in Franklin County, this is the most courses CMCC has offered here, he said. A complete listing of courses is available at www.cmcc.edu/FranklinCounty.asp
Because of the size of Franklin County, five sites are used to offer courses by CMCC: The high school, Foster Technology Center, Adult Learning Center and Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, and Mt. Abram High School in Salem.
