JAY – Sophomore forward Hillary Deane recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds as Jay rolled to a 41-35 win over Lisbon in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Tigers (4-1) executed well from the charity stripe, making 13-of-16. Senior guard Brie Deisaw drained 10 points and hauled down eight rebounds.
Junior guard Emily Moore led the Greyhounds (3-3) with 11 points, while senior forward Christy McAuliffe and junior forward Sam Purcell added 10 points apiece.
Skowhegan 59, Oxford Hills 55
SKOWHEGAN – Ashley Makbeth scored 23 points to lead Skowhegan to a 59-55 girls’ basketball victory in overtime over Oxford Hills.
The Indians outscored Oxford Hills 6-2 in the overtime session. No details were available.
Kari Pelletier led the Vikings with 21 points, while Megan Joyce added 12.
Dirigo 61, Boothbay 37
BOOTHBAY – Carrie Jamison scored 18 points and pulled down six rebounds, and Dirigo’s defense held Boothbay to single-digit scoring in the first three quarters, as the Cougars (4-2) dropped the Seahawks 61-37 victory in a girls’ basketball game Saturday.
By halftime, Dirigo built a 35-11 cushion and cruised the rest of the way. The Cougars’ Jane Hebert added 12 points and Kristen Harvey was credited with six steals.
For the Seahawks, Ali Hartley tossed in the game-high 25 points, which included two 3-pointers.
Bangor 51, EL 36
BANGOR – Senior guard Amy Hackett drained a shared game-high 15 points to lead Bangor to a 51-36 triumph over Edward Little in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Rams (5-1) spread out the scoring among seven different players, while senior forward Allie Clukey framed the offense with 12 rebounds.
Sophomore point guard Kiersten Prue led the Red Eddies (3-3) with 15 points on five field goals, including a 3-pointer, and four free throws. Freshman guard Francesca Lalley pitched in with four field goals, including a pair from beyond the arc.

Poland-G-NG 7 Fryeburg-Lake Region 5
BRIDGTON – Senior center Cory Cormier notched a hat trick as Poland-Gray/New Gloucester battled to a 7-5 victory over Fryeburg-Lake Region in a hockey game Saturday.
Junior wing Ben Piper contributed a pair of goals for the Patriotic-Knights (4-2) to help end the Ice Cats’ (4-1) winning ways. Junior wing Seth Champagne added a goal and an assist.
Left wing Tavish Leland also notched a hat trick to pace the Ice Cats. But most of the offensive help came from Cody Leland and limited the opportunities.
Goalie Sam Bilodeau made 14 saves for the Patriotic-Knights, while Drew Payne turned back 30 shots for the Ice Cats.
St. Dom’s 3, Webster, Quebec 2
FALMOUTH – Junior forward Richard Paradis netted a pair of goals as St. Dom’s took the crown in a 3-2 victory over Webster, Quebec in the Maine High School Invitiational on Saturday.
The Saints scored a goal in each period, while limiting Quebec to a pair in the final frame. Junior forward Casey Parker scored a goal and assisted on both of Paradis’ tallies.
Shayne Bougre recorded a goal and an assist for Quebec.
Goalies Maxwell Wiley and Williams Emerson shared keeper duties for St. Dom’s, garnering 17 saves between them.
Leavitt-Hampden ppd.
The Leavitt Area High School hockey game against Hampden Academy, originally scheduled for Saturday night at Ingersoll Arena in Auburn, was postponed due to the death of a student at the Bangor-area school.
Matt Osborne, 17, was killed Dec. 24 when he was struck by a car on I-95 in Bangor. State Police said he was trying to get a gas grill that had fallen out of his truck.
Visitation hours were Friday, and Osborne’s funeral was Saturday. According to the school’s Web site, all activities scheduled for either day were canceled.
