BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) – A Cape Cod teenager faces charges after police say a homemade bomb went off outside a Barnstable supermarket.
A second, unexploded device that was found in the Shaw’s parking lot Tuesday night was disabled by state police. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Authorities described the bombs as soda bottles filled with a mixture of common household cleaning products that were purchased in the supermarket.
Eighteen-year-old Andrew Spalt was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of an explosive. He was due to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Wednesday.
