Rebekah program

AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet Monday, Jan. 7, at the grand lodge office meeting room at 80 Caron Lane.

The birthday of Thomas Wildey, born Jan. 15, 1783, will be observed at 6:30 p.m. with ice cream and cake. He was the founder of Odd Fellowship in America.

At 7 p.m., during the regular meeting, there will a program on the life of Thomas Wildey and a March of Dimes. Donations received help with aiding babies with birth defects and problems due to premature births.

Fortier chapter

LEWISTON – The Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter 52, Association Canado-Americaine, will hold its first meeting of the new year at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, in the senior citizens room of the Multi-Purpose Center.

Following the monthly business meeting, there will be refreshments and a social hour.

Program on flu

LEWISTON – Tuberculosis (TB) and avian flu are ancient diseases that have surfaced in recent years. Dr. Ahmad Halawa and Dr. Nedaa Skeik of Sabattus Street Internal Medicine will present a program on preparing for a potential outbreak and protecting people from the diseases.

A free lunch will be served at the St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion Resident Dining Room at noon on Thursday, Jan. 10. If interesting in attending, register by Monday, Jan. 7, by calling 753-5467.

Seniors meeting

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens will meet Monday, Jan. 7, in the Multi-Purpose Center gym, 145 Birch St. At noon there will be a lunch for $3 a person. Those attending are asked to contact Ida at 784-2926, ext. 207, for a lunch count. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

The meeting will follow at 1 p.m. and will include installation of officers for the seniors board of directors. There will be bingo for members after the meeting.

Anyone interested in joining the Lewiston Senior Citizens must be at least age 50 and the cost is $10 per year.

DeMolay to meet

AUBURN – The Knights of the Sun Chapter, Order of DeMolay for Boys, will hold a business meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Auburn Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. All members are encouraged to attend.

Members of Masonic lodges and Eastern Star chapters are also invited. Items to be discussed will include plans for the dinner to benefit Autism, the ongoing leadership correspondence course and a family fun day.

Puppy classes

AUBURN – Great Falls Dog Obedience Club is starting another six-week dog obedience class Wednesday, Jan. 9, in Auburn. Beginners will be held at 6:30 p.m. and advanced at 7:30. MS meeting

2008 crafts

NEW GLOUCESTER – The crafts workshops and demonstrations will begin at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Museum in May. They will include floorcloths, woodworking, herbs, baskets, spinning, weaving and blacksmithing.

Rehearsals set

WINTHROP – CODA Chorus will begin rehearsing for its spring concert on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Winthrop United Methodist Church. All who love to sing are invited.

Rehearsals are held from 7 to 9 p.m., and new singers are welcome through Tuesday, Jan. 29. Members are also reminded that the annual meeting will be held at the Winthrop Congregational Church at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8. For more information, call 377-2549.

Bridge play

AUBURN – The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at Schooner Estates on Jan. 2 were: first/second tie, Patricia and Mike Quinn with Tom Dahlberg and David Wallace; third, Larry Fortier and Fred Letourneau; fourth, Rosemarie Goodwin and Roger Briggs.

Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street, Lewiston, and every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Schooner Estates. A partner is always guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games.
