BOSTON (AP) – Governor Patrick says an Iraq war veteran who was twice denied a pardon by former Governor Mitt Romney has a “quite compelling” case.

Anthony Circosta sought a pardon for his boyhood conviction for a BB gun shooting so he could fulfill a dream of becoming a police officer.

Romney has boasted during his presidential campaign that he was the first governor in modern Massachusetts history to deny every request for a pardon or commutation.

The Democrat says he hasn’t received any request from Circosta, nor has he received any information from the Board of Pardons.

Romney has said he refused pardons because he didn’t want to overturn a jury.
