BRUNSWICK – Simon Hebert scored a pair of goals and set up C.J. Bergeron’s overtime winner to lead St. Dom’s to a 4-3 win over Brunswick at Bowdoin College on Wednesday.
The teams split a pair of first-period goals, and the Dragons (4-2) took a 3-2 lead after two on a pair of goals from Jason Lachance.
Spencer Teixeira netted a power-play goal for the Saints (5-4) at 5:04 of the third to force overtime.
Will Emerson stopped 35 of the 38 shots he faced to earn the victory, while Matt Pellerin turned aside 36.
Leavitt 4, Maranacook 3
READFIELD – Steven Rouillard had a goal and assisted on three others to lead Leavitt to a 4-3 win over Maranacook in Class B hockey action Wednesday.
Cody Violette had a pair of goals for the Hornets (5-2), and Richard Thibault stopped 30 of 33 shot to earn the win.
Cory Palmer had a pair of goals and Mike Knowlton made 26 stops in the losing effort.
Boys’ basketball
Hebron 83, New Hampton 77
HEBRON – Jordan Payton drained 26 points Wednesday evening to propel Hebron to an 83-77 victory over New Hampton in a prep school basketball matchup.
Mike von Rotz chipped in for Hebron (2-14) with 24 points, while Matt Yalouris added 15.
New Hampton had two players in double figures, but never recovered after Hebron built a nine-point lead in the first half.
Gould 54, Rangeley 42
BETHEL – Scott Baribeau poured in 15 points to lead Gould to a 52-42 win over Rangeley. Joe Johnson contributed in a big way for Gould (4-1) with 13 points and 22 rebounds.
The Lakers (6-4) were led by Devon Sargeant with a game-high 18 points, the only player to reach double figures.
Gould jumped out to a 24-10 lead in the first quarter and never trailed.
NYA 56, Buckfield 53
BUCKFIELD – Despite an 18-point outburst in the second quarter, Buckfield couldn’t shake off North Yarmouth Academy as the Panthers slipped away with a 56-53 win in overtime Wednesday.
John Condon took control for the Bucks (2-5), scoring 14 points. Zach Cowette dropped in 13, but was also a force on the boards, pulling down 14 rebounds.
He also blocked four shots. Andrew Litchfield helped out at point guard, scoring six points.
For the Panthers (6-2), Andrew Gorman scored the game-high 18 points, while teammates Pak Lul and Taylor Gorman added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Girls’ basketball
Gould 26, Rangeley 24
BETHEL – Chelsea O’Brien popped in a game-high 12 points to propel Gould to a narrow 26-24 victory over Rangeley in a girls’ basketball tilt Wednesday.
Seana Siekman chipped in for Gould (4-2) with eight points.
Allie Hammond led the Lakers with nine points, the only player to approach double figures.
Rangeley outscored Gould 12-7 in the third quarter but came up short at the buzzer.
Mt. Abram 52, Carrabec 41
SALEM – Kenni Norton poured in a game-high 21 points, and Mt. Abram’s full-court pressure forced numerous turnovers as the Roadrunners pulled out a 52-41 win Wednesday night.
Janessa Thomas scored 11 points to help Mt. Abram (5-3). Suzy Cody led Carrabec (1-7) with 11 points while Alicia Stoddard added 10.
Telstar 52, Livermore Falls 42
LIVERMORE FALLS – Bayley Davis scored a game-high 17 points Wednesday to lead Telstar to a 52-42 victory over Livermore Falls.
Kayla Merrill chipped in for the Rebels with 10 points, while Josie Reiss added eight.
The Andies (2-7) were paced by Ester Bizier with 11 points, while Kendra Lyman added 10.
Telstar jumped out to a 13-point lead in the first quarter before the Andies got back in the game with a 19-8 run in the second.
G-NG 48, Poland 28
GRAY – Laura Getchell sparked a 20-5 run in the second quarter as Gray-New Gloucester ran away from Poland 48-28 in a girls’ basketball tilt Wednesday.
Getchell finished with nine points overall, while Chelsea Durgin led the Patriots (5-3) with 14. Terry-Lynn Sanborn also contributed with 10 points in the win.
The Knights (3-5) were paced by Paige Piper, Dani Belanger and Alexis Doyer with six points each.
Mountain Valley 50, Jay 38
RUMFORD – Tanya Martin poured in 14 points as Mountain Valley pulled away in the third quarter en route to a 50-38 win over Jay on Wednesday.
Lauren LePage added 11 points for the Falcons (6-2). Hillary Dean paced Jay (5-4) with a game-high 19 points, while Morgan Turner added seven points.
