FARMINGTON – Two vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon when sun blinded one driver, causing him to cross the center line.
Cecil Pinkham, 77, of Turner was driving west on Lucy Knowles Road when his car crossed the center line and struck a truck driven by Lenny Nichols, 49, of Skowhegan, who was traveling east, police said.
The vehicle that Pinkham and his passenger, Marie Soucier, 68, of Turner, were in spun around twice in the road before ending up in a snowbank, said investigating officer Jack Peck. The accident was reported at 3:26 p.m., he said.
Pinkham and Soucier were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by Northstar Ambulance, Peck said. Pinkham suffered a broken arm, while Soucier had chest injuries from the seatbelt and air bag, Peck said.
Pinkham was driving a 2002 Hyundai, while Nichols drove a 2002 Dodge pickup. Both vehicles were totaled, Peck said.
The Farmington Fire Department assisted at the scene.
