FARMINGTON – A Lincoln man accused of drunken driving that resulted in the death of a fellow construction worker in October was indicted on a charge of manslaughter Tuesday by a Franklin County grand jury.

Ryan A. Hurd, 22, 5 Highland Ave., Lincoln, was also indicted on charges of aggravated criminal operating under the influence and criminal operating under the influence in connection with the death of Terry Richardson Jr., 34, of Dover-Foxcroft, and injuries to Chad Bernier, 30, of Medway.

The three men were working in construction in Kingfield.

Hurd was driving a car at 98 miles per hour early Oct. 17, on Route 27 in New Vineyard, when the vehicle went out of control, struck a pole, rolled over then burst into flames, state police Trooper Scott Nichols said at the time.

Alcohol and speed were the cause of the accident, state police previously said.

Hurd was one of 27 people the grand jury brought 57 charges against on Tuesday.
