LIVERMORE FALLS – Nikki Kaulback popped in 16 points Wednesday to lead Dirigo to a 47-35 victory over Livermore Falls in MVC boys’ basketball action.

Kerri Jamison chipped in for the Cougars (6-4) with eight points in this hard-fought battle. The Andies (2-10) stayed within three points until the final three minutes of play before it slipped away.

Esther Bizier led Livermore Falls with eight points, while Laura Howell tossed in seven.

Carrabec 54, Winthrop 51

WINTHROP – Carrabec spotted Winthrop a double-digit lead after one quarter before roaring back for its second MVC girls’ basketball win in as many nights, 54-51.

The Cobras used an 18-11 gain to pull within four at the half, then outscored the Ramblers 16-10 in the third period to grab the lead.

MacKenzie Weese scored 13 points to lead Carrabec (3-8). Erica French added 11, including three 3-pointers, and Suzy Cote contributed 10. Brianna Tupper topped Winthrop (3-7) with 15 points. Lindsey Gordon added 12, Anna Smithgall 10 and Justine Woodman eight.

Boys’ basketball

Wiscasset 56, Mt. Abram 47

SALEM – After leading by one point with just two minutes remaining, Mt. Abram saw one slip away as Wiscasset rallied to pull out a 56-47 victory.

David Hinkley led the Redskins (8-3) with 16 points, while Jason Dennison added 12. Wiscasset jumped out to a nine-point lead in the first quarter, then watched most of it evaporate as Mt. Abram (0-11) went on a 20-14 run in the second.

The Roadrunners were paced by Sam Simpson with 16 points, while Noah Tranten added 14. Tranten nailed four three-pointers.

Gould 64, GPC 35

PORTLAND – Scott Baribeau scored 21 points and Jeff Fortunato chipped in with 13 to lead Gould to a 64-35 victory over Greater Portland Christian on Wednesday.

Gould (6-1) extended a 17-5 lead after the first quarter to 41-16 at the half before coasting the rest of the way.

Baribeau buried five 3-pointers for the Huskies.

Hebron 91, Brewster 80

HEBRON – Jordan Payton erupted for 38 points to lead Hebron Academy past Brewster, 91-80, in prep boys’ basketball Wednesday.

Mike von Rotz added 14 points and Greg Austin 10 for the Lumberjacks (3-16).

Hockey

Poland/Gray-NG 7, Massabesic 1

BIDDEFORD – Cory Cormier recorded a hat trick Wednesday night to lead Poland/Gray-New Gloucester to a 7-1 victory over Massabesic in local hockey action.

Ben Piper chipped in for Poland/GNG (6-4) with a pair of goals, while Seth Champagne and Chris Lessard also tallied to complete the scoring.

Massabesic received its lone goal from Kyle Lambertson early in the third period. Kyle’s brother Kevin and Jeff Elliott were credit with assists on his goal.

Hebron 4, Pingree 1

HAMILTON, Mass. – Chad Goodwin and Andrew Cetola each registered a goal and two assists to pace Hebron’s 4-1 hockey win over Pingree.

Peter Plumeri and Calvin Ceglanski each added a goal for the Lumberjacks. Billy Brewster, Cam Laurie, David Rothenberg and Nate Dupere chalked up assists, and Keith MacDonald made 16 saves.

Leavitt 11, Lisbon/Oak Hill 2

AUBURN – Tyler Robitaille and Cam Dumont netted four goals apiece Wednesday as Leavitt skated to a 11-2 romp over Lisbon/Oak Hill in ice hockey action.

Steven Rouillard chipped in for the Hornets (6-3) with two goals, while Ryan Urquhart also tallied to complete the scoring. Richard Thibeau made 18 saves to notch the win.

Lisbon/Oak Hill recieved both goals from Tyler Pomerleau, while Cam Blouin and Kyle Watson split time in net for 26 saves overall.
