Patriots (-14) 30, Chargers 14

Forget the game back in Week 2. San Diego is a totally different team. I’d love to predict a blowout, especially with Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates either out or less than 100 percent. But the Chargers are the second-hottest team in football, and their defense is playing well. They’re going to pressure Brady much better than Jacksonville because they won’t rush four guys and have everyone else sit back in Cover 2 the whole game. The Patriots will counter with more screens and draws to the running backs and have Brady taking more shots downfield with Randy Moss. Antonio Cromartie, who may have the size and athleticism to match Moss, could be San Diego’s MVP in this one. If he gets a couple of interceptions, the Chargers have a shot because they’ve thrived off of turnover ratio. But the Patriots don’t turn the ball over. Throw in the cold weather, and the Chargers will have a hard time sustaining any momentum like Jacksonville did in the first half last week.

Giants (+7) 24, Packers 20

OK, Giants fans, I’m on board. Eli Manning’s cold-weather struggles be darned, he’s now the clutch quarterback in the family. Just like last week in Dallas, he’s going to leave Lambeau Field as the QB who makes the fewest mistakes. The defense will contain Ryan Grant enough to force Green Bay into third-and-long, and the frozen tundra will become turnover tundra. New York’s front four pressure will rattle Brett Favre and render him into his annual Drew Bledsoe impersonation, throwing off his back foot into triple coverage for four picks. The Giants will score 17 points off turnovers, and Michael Strahan will ice the game with a sack of Favre, except this one will be legit.
