PARIS – A man accused of assaulting a 14-year-old girl and taking her to Maine last week waived extradition to Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

Albert W. Guastafeste, 46, of Mercersburg, Pa., is charged with felony concealment of the whereabouts of a child, misdemeanor corruption of a minor, two counts of misdemeanor indecent assault, and a summary charge of harassment and stalking. The extradition hearing took place in South Paris District Court before Judge Paul Cote Jr.

Guastafeste was arrested over the weekend and held without bail as a fugitive from justice.

According to a warrant from Pennsylvania State Trooper Aaron Martin, the girl’s mother told police that Guastafeste had helped the girl to get into modeling. Guastafeste told the mother that there was a photo shoot in New York City, and that he could take the girl there.

The mother agreed, and Guastafeste picked up the girl Jan. 9. After two days, the mother had not heard back from Guastafeste despite requesting that he contact her. She also had attempted to contact him.

Shortly after the mother called police on Jan. 11, the girl called her mother. According to Martin’s warrant, she “was upset and told (her mother) that Guastafeste lied.” The girl stated that they had driven straight to Maine and Guastafeste had kissed her on the lips.

Police were able to trace the call to the Hill Street residence of Jerene Stump.

Paris police Lt. Michael Dailey said Stump was expecting Guastafeste to visit, but did not expect the girl. According to Martin’s warrant, Stump briefly spoke to the girl’s mother on the phone, saying she would keep the two apart.

The girl was allowed to stay with Stump until she was returned home Saturday. Stump has not been charged.

According to the warrant, Guastafeste claimed the photo shoot had been canceled.
