Auburn – Robert A. LaBrie, 79, formerly of 1080 Main St., in Lewiston, passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 19, at Odd Fellows Nursing Home with family at his side.
He was born in Lewiston, on April 17, 1928, a son of Ernest and Victoria (Gagnon) LaBrie. He was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. On Dec. 2, 1950, he married the former Theresa Caron, who predeceased him on Aug. 24,1995. He was a veteran of the Military, having served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. He started working for Northern Utilities in 1955, and remained there for 34 years until his retirement as a clerk of the works in 1989. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and among his favorite enjoyments were gardening, music, woodworking and fishing.
He leaves a daughter, Laura Vaughan and her husband, Michael, of Durham; a son, Robert LaBrie Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Gorham; two granddaughters, Michele L. LaBrie of San Antonio, Texas, and Jenny Emlet and husband, Jonathan, of Somerville, Mass.; a sister, Loretta Young of Massachusetts; a brother, Ernest LaBrie and wife, Jacqueline, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Robert A. LaBrie III; and by a sister, Violet Indrysek.
