SALEM – Kenni Norton’s 24 points led the way, as Mt. Abram improved to an 8-5 record with a 69-38 win over Boothbay in girls’ basketball Tuesday.
Norton also pulled down 10 rebounds and had five steals. Janessa Thomas grabbed a game-high 18 boards for the Roadrunners and netted 21 points.
Alli Hartley scored a team-high 15, including one 3-pointer, for the Seahawks (0-13).
Buckfield 40, Rangeley 26
RANGELEY – Kasey Farrington led a group of seven players as Buckfield rolled to a 40-26 rout over Rangeley in EWC girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday.
Farrington led the undefeated Bucks (10-0) with nine points, while Ashlee Hamann added eight.
The Lakers (5-7) were paced by Krista Jamison with a game-high 16 points, while Allie Hammond added five. Buckfield took a six-point lead into the break, then used a 15-4 run in the third quarter to seal the win.
Oxford Hills 60, Mt. Ararat 34
TOPSHAM – Kari Pelletier poured in a game-high 21 points Tuesday night as Oxford Hills powered past Mt. Ararat 60-34 in a KVAC girls’ matchup. Laura Courcy chipped in for the Vikings (9-4) with 10 points, while Melanie Cloutier added seven.
Ariel LaDuc and Amelia Lamm led the Eagles (4-8) with seven points each. Oxford Hills built a 28-19 advantage in the first half and was never seriously challenged.
Mountain Valley 61, Winthrop 25
WINTHROP – Vanessa Cayer torched the nets for 16 points and Tanya Martin added 13 to lead Mountain Valley in a 61-25 MVC win over Winthrop on Tuesday.
The Falcons had little trouble working the ball inside and took advantage of high percentage scoring opportunities. They enjoyed a 33-11 lead at the break en route to the convincing win.
Lauren Lepage added eight points for the Falcons (10-2).
Justine Woodman paced the Ramblers (3-11) with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Erskine 49, Oak Hill 44
SOUTH CHINA – Oak Hill’s 15-point outburst in the third quarter was not enough as Erskine Academy slipped away with a 49-44 victory in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday night.
The score was knotted at 8 after one quarter, but the Eagles (10-4) erupted with 21 points to give them a 29-16 lead at halftime. For Erskine, Ashley Richardson scored the game-high 19 points, and teammate Ashley Peaslee added 11.
The Raiders (4-10) got help on offense from Ambyr Provost and Maggie Sabine, who each scored 14 points. Provost also dropped in a pair of 3-pointers, and Sabine pulled down 12 rebounds. Carrie Hayden grabbed 13 rebounds for Oak Hill.
Boys’ basketball
Erskine 69, Oak Hill 42
WALES – Brent Merrill poured in 20 points, including four 3-pointers, as Erskine Academy easily handled Oak Hill with a 69-42 in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday.
Garrett Holt and Jack Garrity added 11 each for the Eagles (8-5), who used a 38-15 first half to put the Raiders (3-11) out of striking distance.
Nick Brown, the Raiders’ high-scorer, netted 11 points.
Oxford Hills 65, Mt. Ararat 46
SOUTH PARIS – Oxford Hills used a 27-point fourth quarter, which included 11 of 12 points from the free-throw line, to put away Mt. Ararat 65-46.
Leading the way for the Vikings (5-8) was Thomas McGee with three 3-pointers and 13 points. Josh Childs netted 11 of his own, and Cody Hadley, with 10 points, was a stellar 6-for-6 from the line in the fourth quarter
Shawn Dostie scored a team-high 11 for the Eagles (7-5).
Rangeley 48, Buckfield 36
RANGELEY – David Raymond netted a game-high 15 points, including one 3-pointer, as the Lakers (7-7) won at home over the Bucks, 48-36.
Ben Bliss added 14, and Kent Maderia put up 12 in the win.
Brian Litchfield scored 12 for the Bucks, and Cy Wilkinson and John Condon each had nine points.
