AMITY (AP) – The State Fire Marshal’s Office has tentatively identified the victim of last week’s fatal fire at a mobile home in the Aroostook County town of Amity as 59-year-old Edwin Connelly Jr.

Officials said Connelly’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and a determination of the cause of death. Connelly’s name was released after a relative in Connecticut was located and notified of his death.

The fire at the remote location was discovered Sunday by a plow operator, three days after investigators believe the fire took place.

Connelly lived alone with his nine dogs, all of which died in the fire. Because of the extensive damage, investigators say the cause of the blaze will never be known.
