BRIDGTON – On Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14, Shawnee Peak will be the site of a fundraising ski day and ski-a-thon to benefit more than 150 local underprivileged youth who attend Camp Susan Curtis in Stoneham.

In 2008, youth representing every school in Cumberland County and Oxford County will attend Camp Susan Curtis tuition-free. The youth become part of a yearly summer experience and support system at the camp in which 96 percent return annually.

The camp works with school professionals to help each youth learn leadership and life skills so they can be successful at school, graduate high school and escape the cycle of poverty.

More than 95 percent of youth who participate in four years of Camp Susan Curtis programs graduate high school and 77 percent attend college.

Participants can ski Shawnee Peak for the day, participate in the ski-a-thon or make a donation to support a youth from their local school.

For more information, contact Patrick Carson, Camp Susan Curtis director, at 928-2955 or [email protected].
