Dear Sun Spots: This year marks the 20th anniversary of the annual Geiger/Montello Night of the Stars celebration, one of the most exciting and well-known facets of Geiger’s ongoing Adopt-A-School partnership with Montello Elementary School.
This landmark program was the first of its kind in our area, inspiring many other local businesses, including the Sun Journal, to reach out and make a difference in children’s lives. Since 1988, our aim has been to motivate and encourage students to achieve their personal best. Night of the Stars, our annual Oscar-style awards ceremony, honors the most talented young writers among the hundreds of kindergarten through sixth-grade students at Montello Elementary School. To help us commemorate this landmark anniversary, I’d like to recognize Night of the Stars participants from past years. Any former Montello student or teacher who participated in a previous Night of the Stars celebration is invited to join us for this year’s celebration on Wednesday, May 7. Attendees will also receive a special 20th anniversary gift.

Answer: Congratulations, Pete! What a wonderful achievement. Sun Spots and column readers wish you all the best for another successful 20 years! Sun Spots is sure that this program has changed many lives.
