MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) – Three people were killed in a car crash on Interstate 691 Saturday night, state police said.

Two eastbound vehicles lost control near exit five in Meriden and crashed into a tree in the median, police said Sunday.

Michael Bauer, 26, of Washington Township, N.J., and a passenger, 25-year old Kara Monnerat, of Waterbury, were killed.

Also killed was 32-year old Luis Martinez of East Hartford. His passenger, David Rodriguez, 24, also of East Hartford, was injured, police say.
