AUBURN – The 8th annual Auburn Winter Festival from Feb. 1-3 will include movies, snowshoeing, ice sculpting, skiing, races and a giant snow playground. Highlights include:

• 11 a.m. Saturday: the Really Ridiculous Relay Race, a three-part relay race involving a 100-yard human dogsled, a 100-yard uphill snowshoe and a mad downhill dash in a canoe;

• 1 p.m. Saturday: kids’ sled obstacle race, a slalom course, limbo and maneuver through a pyramid of haystacks;

• 3 p.m. Saturday: shovel race down the face of Bull Moose Trail;

• 9 a.m. Sunday: Downhill Mountain Bike Race at Lost Valley;

• 11 a.m. Sunday: Avalanche of Mountain Bikes at Lost Valley.
