MEXICO – A 30-year-old Middle Avenue man was arrested Thursday at Oxford County Jail on a charge of gross sexual assault, which is a Class B felony.

Sgt. Roy Hodsdon, the arresting officer, said David F. Paquette is serving time for revocation of his probation.

Paquette has four months remaining on the sentence.

Evidence was gathered to support the arrest following a search Thursday morning of Paquette’s computer, cell phone and memory card.

Former Mexico police officer Chuck Beale began the investigation in December after a report of sexual assault filed by a 25-year-old female victim on Dec. 21.

The incident occurred in August at the victim’s home in Mexico, police said.

Hodsdon said Paquette is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at the Paris district or superior court. Following his arraignment, he will complete his probation-revocation sentence.

The case should go before a grand jury, he said.
