AUBURN – Folks flipping through the new Verizon phone books might notice a full-page ad for Aspen Dental with a 600 Turner St. address.

But making an appointment would be a little premature.

The chain dental services company is still negotiating for space at the new mall. Kevin Fletcher, Team Fletcher/Millett Realty broker for 600 Turner St., said no lease has been signed as yet.

Mark Frank, spokesman for Aspen Dental, said the company took a gamble, buying the ad months ago with the expectation that the new office would be open by the time the publication hit the streets.

“We’ve had great success in Maine and intend to locate in Auburn,” he said. Until the new location opens, he invited clients to consider appointments with other Maine offices in Portland, Biddeford, Waterville and Topsham. Frank didn’t know when the Auburn deal would be inked.

Fletcher, who has been marketing the mall for a year, did sign CitiFinancial, which is relocating from Center Street. The financial services company is expected to take 8,200 square feet of the 39,000-square-foot mall. The build-out for CitiFinancial should occur in 60 days, said Fletcher.

He also is in negotiations with a prospective client for 10,000 square feet of space at 600 Turner.

“Activity has really picked up on that project within the last few weeks,” he said, noting the retail market was weak in November and December.

Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli, the lone tenant at the new mall, opened this fall.
