LEWISTON – The 35th anniversary of the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days campaign will be noted in the Androscoggin County area on March 17 to 21. The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers during February and March to assist in taking orders, packing and delivering daffodils.
To volunteer or to place an order, contact Marie Roberge at 373-3701 or the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345, anytime, day or night.
“This program is a great and easy way to make a difference in your community by raising money to help eliminate cancer as a life-threatening disease,” Roberge said. “Seeing the joy on people’s faces when we deliver daffodils gives me such a sense of pride, and I know we’re giving hope to others.”
Androscoggin County residents have until Saturday, March 1, to place orders for daffodils.
For a donation of $10, people will receive a bouquet of 10 fresh-cut daffodils. Or for a donation of $20, the Gift of Hope is a bouquet of 10 daffodils given as an anonymous gift to cancer patients or others in need at local hospitals, nursing homes and community health centers.
Bea R. Hope, the third in a series of special Boyds(tm) Bears designed for the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days, will be offered for a donation of $25. The Bear and a Bunch(tm) includes a bouquet of daffodils and a 10-inch tall, light-gold colored bear holding a felt daffodil with a felt bumble bee on a flower petal. This year also marks the addition of potted daffodil bulbs, which can be received for a donation of $15.
Call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 for cancer information, connections to local resources or support 24 hours a day.
