AUBURN – An Auburn man accused of giving liquor to a teen who later died from alcohol poisoning pleaded not guilty Friday to related charges.

Larando J. Sweeting, 23, of 330 Turner St. entered not-guilty pleas to six counts of furnishing liquor to a minor. One of those counts, handed up Wednesday by an Androscoggin County grand jury, is a felony because it resulted in the death of 18-year-old Adam Beggs.

The other counts are misdemeanors.

Sweeting also pleaded not guilty to charges of violation of bail conditions and making a false statement to police.

He is being held at Androscoggin County Jail pending trial next month on unrelated charges.
