AUBURN – The Abused Women’s Advocacy Project will hold its 15th annual Winter Walk Against Violence from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, inside the Auburn Mall.

The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness of domestic violence and to help raise money to provide services to victims of abuse in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford counties.

Participants raise money by collecting pledges and completing a circuit of 10 laps inside the mall for a total of 5 miles. Refreshments will be provided and activities will take place throughout the mall.

Pledge forms can be downloaded from the AWAP Web site at www.awap.org. Prizes will be given at different fundraising levels. For more information, contact AWAP at 795-6744 or [email protected].

In 2007, the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project responded to more than 10,000 calls to its help line and provided additional services to more than 8,000 individuals. AWAP provides one-on-one advocacy, court services, emergency shelter and community education.

Anyone concerned that someone may be a victim of domestic violence who would like to receive information and support can call AWAP’s free, confidential help line 24 hours a day at 1-800-559-2927.
