AUBURN – “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer” will be presented by V-Day Auburn at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the First Universalist Church of Auburn.
A follow-up to “The Vagina Monologues,” all penned by award-winning writer Eve Ensler, this new collection of stories registers the voices of women and girls victimized by violence.
Writers include poet Sharon Olds; comediennes Kathy Najimy (“Sister Act”) and Kate Clinton; playwright Winter Miller; and TV writer James Lecesne (“Will & Grace”). Local actors include Shirley Bernier, Paulette Brooks Carla Rose DuBois, Betsey Easton, Ell Fanus, Toby Haber, Charlotte Lehmann, Mary-Atala Lessard, Araminta Star-Matthews, Jackie Oliveri and Pat Phillips.
V-Day, has become a global movement to end violence against women and girls by raising awareness. It also raises money. More than 2,500 V-Day benefits will be produced this year by volunteer activists worldwide, generating more than $40 million. A percentage will benefit Women of New Orleans.
Due to mature content, persons under 16 will not be admitted without a parent.
