FARMINGTON – Franklin County commissioners are looking for two people to represent the county on the Threshold to Maine Resource Conservation and Development Area Board.
Commissioner Fred Hardy of New Sharon serves on the board.
The purpose of the organization is to assist communities in Franklin, Oxford, Cumberland and York counties in committing to balancing social, economic and ecological issues around natural science use, according to its Web site, www.thresholdtomaine.org.
For nearly 40 years, Threshold to Maine has worked with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Services to deliver the RC&D program.
“This partnership has allowed local people, utilizing federal technical assistance, to design and implement a program tailored to meet local needs,” the Web site states.
The organization’s vision is, “To position natural resource-based industries as key economic development centers for southern and western Maine communities, expanding the number of small natural resource-based businesses contributing to local, regional, state, national, and international economies.”
The board meets monthly in Gray.
Anyone interested in serving on the board may call the county commissioners’ office at 778-6614.
