WATERVILLE – Following an undefeated season, the Lewiston seventh-eighth grade boys’ basketball travel team captured the Waterville Sunday Travel League tournament. Teams competing were Lewiston, Augusta, Pittsfield, Mexico, Oxford Hills and Dixfield.
In the opener, Lewiston posted a 34-27 victory over Augusta. Joe McKinnon led Lewiston with 10 points, and Shawn Ricker had seven. They then dropped Dixfield 45-40. Andrew Getchell scored a team-high 10 points and Jeff Turcotte added nine. Josh Turbide led Dixfield with 15 points.
Jeff Turcotte scored 16 points to lead Lewiston to a 39-34 win over Oxford Hills. Corbin Hyde and Ricker each scored seven. Shane McKelle scored 16 for Oxford Hills.
As the only unbeaten team in the double-elimination tournament, Lewiston advanced to the championship. This game was no contest as Lewiston enjoyed a 55-38 rout. Getchell and Ricker led the way with 12 and 11 points.
