NORWAY – Seats are open for a talk on Maine’s economic future scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Friday at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Dr. James Breece will speak at the Harper Conference Center.

Breece, an economist, has held positions in the Maine University System, most recently as executive director of planning and policy analysis. He joined the system in 1983 as a faculty member in the University of Maine’s economics department.

Breece received a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Vermont and a doctoral degree in economics from Boston College.

The talk is sponsored by Western Maine Health, the Western Maine Economic Development Council, the Western Maine University and Community College Center, and the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce, and Norway Downtown.

The event is free but attendance is limited to 65. According to Kelly Bruneau, an administrative assistant at the hospital, 17 seats have been filled. To reserve a seat, contact Bruneau at 743-1562, ext. 337.
