EUSTIS – Town Clerk Kathy Fearon doesn’t see anything on the town meeting warrant to raise debate.
The meeting begins Friday when residents consider electing a town selectman and a Planning Board and reconvenes at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Community Building.
The polls will open from 4 to 9 p.m. Feb. 29, at the town office.
Selectmen’s Chairman Earl “Jay” Wyman Jr. is running uncontested for re-election to a three-year term, Fearon said.
One three-year opening on the town Planning Board has two candidates running for the seat: Scott Spatcher and Lori Lemont, she said.
Voters will consider 27 articles during Saturday’s town meeting with some reflecting increases and some decreases.
Residents voted in 2007 to raise and appropriate $156,654.28 for administration and this year will be asked to raise $159,700, an increase of $3,046.
They’ll also consider raising and appropriating $149,711 for protection in 2008, including the Fire Department, hydrants and ambulance, compared to $155,500 in 2007, a decrease of $5,789.
Another article that shows a decrease is health and sanitation that requests $69,900 for 2008, which is $8,800 less than what was raised last year.
The recreation amount is up by $7,300 to $39,250, which includes $6,000 more for library expenses.
The summer roads request is up from $81,500 last year to $92,000 with the amount requested for winter roads remaining the same at $90,000.
