ROXBURY – The Slippery Sliders Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at the home of Raymond and Sylvia Touchette.

Trail Blazers

MEXICO – The Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, downstairs at the Town Hall. All are welcome. To become a member, call Nick Brown at 364-8665.

Class meeting

RUMFORD – The Mexico High School Class of 1959 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the River Valley Grill. All are welcome.

Fishing derby

ROXBURY – Ice Fishing for a Cure will be hosted by Relay For Life teams, the Canton Cruisers and Michael’s Angels, on Saturday, March 8, at Ellis Pond. Preregistration can be made at the Ellis Pond Variety Store or on the ice on the day of the event. Registration is $5. The store opens at 5 a.m.

There will bait for sale at the store. All anglers must comply with Maine fish and game laws.

No fish will be measured before 7 a.m. or after 3 p.m. In case of a tie, weight will be the determining factor. Earliest entry is the final tie breaker. Fish should be free of snow, ice and hooks.

Woodlot workshop

PARIS – A six-week workshop for woodlot owners will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Paris. Among the topics will be tree ID, deeds and boundaries, timber harvesting, wildlife management, forestry taxes, forestry regulations and working with a consulting forester.

There is a $20 charge for the course. The workshop is sponsored by the Maine Forest Service. For more information, contact Merle Ring, Maine Forest Service, at 674-3787. To sign up, contact the adult education office at the high school, 743-8842.
