MACHIAS (AP) – The Washington County sheriff’s decision to sever ties with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency was short lived.

Sheriff Donnie Smith has decided to restore the working relationship between his department and the drug agency after talking Wednesday to Public Safety Commissioner Anne Jordan, who oversees the drug agency.

Smith was alarmed over a DVD that showed a drug agent flashing his badge, drinking a beer and driving off in a car. The Public Safety Department and attorney general’s office concluded it was juvenile, not criminal, behavior.

Jordan said the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency first came upon the DVD two years ago, and the agent was disciplined at that time.
