Court to ‘Stingy’: Send 124,000 roses
MOSCOW – An Iranian man has been ordered to send his wife over 124,000 roses, worth more than $200,000, after she took him to court for “being stingy,’ the Iranian Etemad paper said on Tuesday.
The woman, only known as Hengameh, filed a complaint in court against her husband claiming her dowry after 10 years of marriage. Under Iranian law, a woman can claim her dowry, paid on marriage, from her husband at any time.
A rose in the Islamic Republic costs almost $2, so the man will have to pay some $235,000 for the whole bouquet. If he refuses to repay the dowry, he could go to jail.
