Notre Dame tips Maine

PALM BEACH, Fla. – Notre Dame rallied from a four-run deficit Tuesday, capping the comeback with a run in the bottom of the 10th inning to beat Maine, 11-10, in college baseball.

Billy Cather, Tony Patane and Myckie Lugbauer each had three hits for the Black Bears (4-4). Patane and Lugbauer both belted a home run and combined for five RBIs. Kevin McAvoy also homered for Maine. A.J. Pollack had four hits for the Fighting Irish (4-3), and Ryan Sharpley added three, including a round-tripper.

Husson 7, John Jay 6

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – Samuel Adolphsen struck out six in three innings of strong relief Tuesday, and Husson College scratched out a run in the top of the ninth inning to trip John Jay, 7-6.

Jeff Miller cracked three hits for the Eagles (1-2), who lost to Beloit and Augustana to open their annual southern trip. Oak Hill graduate Ethan Guerette knocked in a run for Husson.

Softball

St. Joseph’s swept

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Worcester Polytechnic Institute scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to turn away Saint Joseph’s College, 9-4, in Tuesday college softball.

The Monks also surrendered a run in the top of the eighth to drop the second game of the daily twin bill, 5-4, to St. Mary’s.

Meg Foley hit a home run and knocked in six runs for WPI (2-3). Alyssa Dunn was a combined 5-for-7 in the two games for the Monks (1-3).

Men’s lacrosse

Keene State 9, Bates 5

LEWISTON – Bates scored the first three goals in its home opener, but Keene State roared back for a 9-5 men’s lacrosse win Tuesday.

Mike Medeiros notched two goals for the Bobcats (0-2), with Justin Simon, Alex Cronstein and Sam Geller scoring one apiece. Tony Santa Fe registered three goals to pace Keene State (1-0).
