Eight, eighth grade students and seventh grade math teacher, Mrs. Allison White are putting their heads together to compose amazing robots. The students involved in this technical project are all previous students of Mrs. White. They are Tommy Castellano, Taylor Brosious, Rachel Mills, Jared Lussier, Tyler Pulk, Nicole Court-Menendez, Sarah, and Timothy all of team 83. The contraptions are complete with special features and Sarah has even decided to put a camera on hers.
They began working to create robots with wires that were meant to hit walls and automatically switch directions. They all agreed that maybe this experiment was too difficult and immediately started fiddling with Lego robot kits. The new kits gave specific instructions describing how to construct the mechanical devices and hook them up to a computer program and install different movements into the robot. Now that Lego kits are complete Tyler Pulk plans on adding arms to his and programming it to smash various objects. Another type of device the team is experimenting with is a small version of the Lego cars except with webcams hooked up to them.
The team works after school at least once a week when they can. They have a ton of fun creating things with their hands, and showing their work when the robots move or wave their mechanical hands and working together to get results with one of their favorite teachers in the school.
