You know the animal shelter at 55 Strawberry Avenue in Lewiston? Well, did you also know that you can volunteer there? Well, you can! It’s so much fun! And all you have to do is go to the shelter and tell them you want to be a volunteer. They will give you a paper to read and sign. Once you have done that, you just give it to them. They will tell you when the orientation is and once you attend that, you can begin volunteering!

At the orientation, they will give you a tour of the shelter and some papers to read and sign. The papers are kind of like a survey. It doesn’t take that long to sign them. When you volunteer, you do all kinds of things! You can play with the different animals they have such as dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rabbits! You can take the dogs and puppies out for walks on the shelter’s property. Sometimes you can take the guinea pigs or rabbits outside to play on the grass. I love volunteering! It’s a ton of fun!
